Via Ferrata Course - Mt. Evans

3 hours Intermediate

At the base of a beautiful 14,000+ foot peak in the Colorado Rockies is one of AVA’s newer extreme adventures. Via Ferrata, which means “iron way” in Italian, is a method of mountaineering & rock climbing that’s been used in Europe for centuries. Via Ferrata courses use a combination of ladders, rungs, rails, cables and bridges to aid in moving across and up a cliff face. The Iron Way in Idaho Springs is an assisted rock climbing guided tour where you’ll clip into cables that run alongside a cliff. You’ll then move along a designated path of iron rungs and bridges. Along the way, you’ll be required to clip in and out of the cable to progress through the course. This is made possible through an advanced internal locking system in the carabiners. This system keeps you connected to the cable of the course at all times.

Hiking The East Inlet Trail

Intermediate

The trail begins at a peaceful waterfall and climbs steadily up through the valley. A great intro to backpacking or a lovely trek on its own, the hike also has a few steep parts. Close to the trailhead, it's a much lower grade. Throughout the valley, there are stunning views of the river, mountains, and lakes, but some of the best sights are seen if you travel past the maintained trail boundary to the end of the valley. Follow the river past Fourth Lake and then hang a right to get to Fifth Lake, the meltwater of which makes the river you've followed since the trailhead. You can go as far as you want on this awesome out-and-back hike!

Hike The Big Meadows / Tonahutu Trail

Intermediate

The hike to Big Meadows begins at the Green Mountain Trailhead, located 2.5 miles north of the Grand Lake Entrance. From the parking area, the Green Mountain Trail climbs through a lush conifer forest. This climb is steady and moderate, but graduates to more gentle grades after the first half-mile, with a few short steeper inclines every now and then. As the trail levels out you’ll pass a couple of small meadows. Keep an eye out for moose and elk foraging in these fields as you pass. Note that the edge of the meadow can be a bit marshy, especially in the spring. Only two-tenths of a mile up the trail are the remnants of an old homesteader’s cabin from the early 1900s. The Big Meadows themselves are surrounded by numerous 12,000 ft.-plus peaks. After this hike, continue down Tonahutu Trail for more amazing views!

Garden District Tour

2 hours Beginner

The Garden District was established in 1832 as the City of Lafayette, an elegant garden suburb upriver from New Orleans inhabited by the wealthy American newcomers who found themselves at odds with the downriver Creoles. The planners and residents of this verdant oasis from the sultriness and excesses of the old city were the captains of New Orleans' "golden age," a time of incredible wealth and growth in the Crescent City.

French Quarter Tour

2 hours Beginner

The French Quarter is the original city of New Orleans, established by the French in 1718 as a tiny outpost in the wild and vast Louisiana swamp. Despite the fact that it has been American since Napoleon sold it to the United States in 1803, the city's oldest neighborhood has retained a strong European and Caribbean look and feel. Far from being only a historical site, the French Quarter is still a living, vibrant neighborhood.

Wake Board Rental Daily

1 day

Wakeboarding has been around for about 20 years now and its still getting better and better! Wakeboarding is essentially the equivalent of snowboarding on the water. A boat and driver along with a spotter will tow you along and the idea is to pop up and swing one foot in front of the other. One of the more difficult water sports to figure out but hey! If you need a lesson we've got you covered.

Image

Water Ski Rental Daily

1 day

Water skiing is the equivalent of snow skiing but on the water! Pros are that its super fun AND you don't have to deal with the cold. Water skiing involves being behind the boat with a driver, spotter, and yourself! With two skis in front of you, you have all the opportunity to try and get up. Waterskis are probably the second easiest water sport to get into compared to wakeboarding and kneeboarding.

Image

Kneeboard Rental Daily

1 day

Kneeboarding is one of the all-time classics! Kneeboarding is easiest on the list of watersports to learn being towed behind your own boat. I'd say wake surfing takes the top spot but generally there are boat limitations so inquire within for a lesson behind our Malibu boat! Kneeboarding begins behind the boat with a driver and spotter in pull and you start on your stomach and slowly make your way to your knees. Once you get up to your knees and shoulders are back than you're doing it!

Image

Paddle Board Rental Daily

1 day

Paddleboarding is one of the best ways to experience getting on the water! Paddleboarding originally became a thing in Hawaii where natives would paddle between the islands. It slowly evolved into a form of surfing and now is used for everyday fun as well as exercise! The learning curve with paddle boarding is quite fast and all you really need is a bit of balance and you're good to go!
